This was a tough week. We had a private family viewing for Grandpa on Wednesday. It was very hard to see Jaren and his siblings and mom grieving, but nice to be able to come together and see Cleiburn again. The funeral was on Thursday, and it was a very nice funeral. There were so many beautiful memories people shared about him. There was a luncheon afterward, and we were able to see so many cousins and nieces and nephews, some that Jaren hadn't seen in ten years or more. Time sure does fly by, and it makes you sad that it takes a funeral for everyone to come together. After the luncheon we headed up North to Pinedale. Gwen has an Aunt who let us all stay in her cabin. The cabin was HUGE, and the kids had a blast running around and getting to play until late. There was a dress up room, which the kids LOVED. There must've been a hundred pieces of dress up clothes in there. Reagan & Hailey put on a fashion show, which was pretty entertaining. The burial was the next day, and it turned out very nice. The Pinedale cemetery is a very peaceful cemetery. I had been to the cemetery a few times in the past, to see where some of the Petersens would be buried one day. It didn't seem real that it was really happening. Grandpa had been in the Navy, and so the Honor Gaurd had driven up from the valley to do the service, which we thought was pretty cool. It was a very nice funeral, but sad. Sad to see Lois say her final goodbyes to her husband, sad for Jaren and his brothers and sister to say goodbye to their dad. We went back to the cabin afterwards for a luncheon, and the kids got to run around and play with lots of cousins. Hailey met quite a few cousins she hadn't met before. I think it's so funny how kids can look at each other and say "Hi, what's your name?" and be best friends after that. So cute! After the luncheon Gwen and the kids and I drove home, while Jim and Jaren stayed to clean up the Pinedale place and meet a realtor to try to list it. The trip home wasn't bad, and the kids were pretty good travelers. I couldn't sleep that night, because I kept hearing noises. I told Jaren he is NEVER allowed to be out of town again! I seriously had a steak knife next to my bed. After I finally got to sleep, my mom called saying my dad had a seizure! It was a very tough night, with all that was going on, and now my dad was in the hospital. In my mind, I was thinking "Jaren and I are both going to lose our dads a week apart, and this will be Hailey's and Addy's third grandparent to pass away in a matter of three months". Luckily he was okay, and they took him to the hospital. They are not sure why he had a seizure, but say it might be related to the stroke he had about a year ago. We are hoping he doesn't have another one, and they can figure out the cause of it. All I can say is it is scary getting older and seeing your parents get older and have their health start failing. Makes me realize how important our time here is!
Getting ready to go to the funeral. Hailey made
a note to give to Grandpa....so sweet ♥♥ And
might I add, Jaren looks so handsome (he
would be embarrassed if he knew I wrote that
on here....haha)
Lady Gaga...or, I mean Reagan! This was one
of the outfits from the dress up clothes, she
had so much fun, and loved the funky shoes!
Addy liked the porch swing.
Aunt Stephanie posing with Reagan...haha.
Hailey fell in love with this cute little dress. John
and her had fun exploring outside.
Climbing up to the tree house. Jim had told me a story of a time when
some kids were playing up there, and a bear was down below. Me being
me, of course I worried the entire time that it was going to happen again!
Cute cousins!
Addy & Elsie playing on the stairs. Addy had me really nervous
because of her eye surgery. Her doctor told us she might see double
for awhile, so I kept picturing her falling down the stairs...ahhhh.
Grandpa's kids.
Jaren and his mom, brothers & sister.
