Our garden is chugging along! Hopefully it does ok as it starts to heat up. Some of our tomatoes had blossom end rot, in part because I think I over water them. There are TONS on the plants, but it still kills me to pluck off the ones with rot...haha. The cherry tomatoes have been ripe for a few weeks now, but the larger ones are just starting to ripen, and unfortunately, the pesky birds decided to help themselves to them! I pulled my fall decoration scarecrow out of the attic and stuck it in the tomato bed in hopes of it scaring them off! We also put a bird bath out there a few weeks ago, which was not very bright on my part...haha. I just think it looks "gardeny", so I like it. I decided not to keep water in it though! Our squash and zucchini is doing pretty well. We have pulled quite a few off, and Jaren says they are delicious. I'm not a big fan, so I didn't try any yet. We will have to try making fried zucchini....mmmmm. When we left for vacation they were about six inches long, and when we came back we were amazed that they were a foot long! They grow CRAZY fast!! Back in January we planted potatoes in a bucket. We've been waiting A LONG time to dump the bucket to see if anything had actually grown. Well, one of the plants in the bucket died off, so we dumped it and to our surprise, we actually grew potatoes! Hailey was so excited to pick them out of the soil. They were pretty tiny, but still, we grew potatoes!!
Hailey being silly acting like she is going to eat a
tomato that a bug got to...haha.
The first of our squash & zucchini.
Our potatoes and some more squash and zucchini.
You can't tell from this pic, but the zucchini is HUGE!
