Vertuccio Farms

I decided to take the girls to Vertuccio Farms....
they had a BLASt!  There was only one other family there when we got there!  They rode the barrel train twice, milked the play cow A MILLION times, bounced in the bounce house, bounced on the huge air pillow, slid down the super high slide, rode the bikes, rode on the swings, saw some animals, did the teeter totter, picked some peaches and more.  We love it because it is close to home, cheap to get into, and lots of fun!  It was hotter than we would've liked, and the slide bruised my tailbone...ouch, but other than that, it was FUN!!

We need to get one of these for our house....haha.

Our poor little timid Addy.  She was scared to get in,
then had a blast one she got used to it.

 And....more cow milking.

Hailey on top of a hay stack.  I think this girl
needs some longer shirts...haha.

 The bounce pillow.  SO FUN!

Hailey was getting up there pretty high!

They sat still for about two seconds on the bounce
pillow and I snapped their pic.  Love my little blondies ♥♥

This slide was super high and WAY fast.  Lot's of fun, but
quite a workout going up the stairs holding a two and a half year old.

 Our little first grader!!

 Hay maze, they loved it.

She was so determined to ride that thing!  She actually got it
moving, even though she was way to small for it.

 Pretty little Hailey ♥♥

 Milking the cow...AGAIN!

 Why is this so fun?!

 Cutie Pie Addy ♥♥

 Bounce pillow fun!

Hailey and the cute little donkey.

Hailey loves rocks.  She picked this one up and said "this is
my bestest rock ever".

 Peach picking.

Week of May 20th

School is OVER!!  How the heck did that happen so fast?  I was just writing a post and bawling about how I didn't want Hailey to start kindergarten!  Man, before we know it she is going to be starting junior high, that's how fast I feel like it's going.  This week started off as usual.  On Monday Addy and I ran a couple of errands, including the library.  We got LOTS of books.  I went looking for a potty book for Addy, hoping to get her interested for when I give potty training another try in a few weeks.  Tuesday I went and got my hair done.  It has been over a YEAR since I last had my hair cut...yikes!  It was looking pretty gross, so it was time!  The girls went swimming and then Hailey had dance.  Wednesday was groceries for Addy and I, and then we organized the girls rooms.  Friday we watched a little bit of tv, played, had dance rehearsal and then had a Petersen get together that night, which included cake and ice cream for Sam's birthday.  Saturday Hailey had two play dates, and Jaren worked and then went to UFC that night.

Addy loves apples, I don't know why I
don't give them to her more often.

Books books books!  So happy that Hailey loves
to read, and Addy loves being read to.

A not so happy Hailey.  She got herself into trouble for telling
Addy to say stupid!  Man, the
things you never think you are going to have to deal with
when you have kids.  Her punishment was to write "I will
not tell Addy to say stupid" twenty times.  It took
her quite awhile, and she was on her best behavior
after that.....little stinker!

Action shot!  Even though she was in trouble for the
name calling incident, I let her go swimming.  I was hoping
for an early bedtime for both girls, and I know swimming
wipes them out!  They were both asleep by 7:15...whooo hooo!

Addy loves to swim with her big sister ♥♥  She also LOVES
to wear her jumparoo.  This thing is AWESOME!  It is
so much more secure than arm floaties and doesn't
hit them in the face while swimming like the other
floaty things that you wear like a swim suit.

I organized the CRUD outta both girls rooms.  They are going
to keep them clean the entire summer!
 A mom can dream, right?

The things I find in Hailey's room crack me up sometimes.
For instance, a big ugly rock in her princess purse...haha.

And this.....she is definitely my daughter.  This girl loves
chocolate.  I was wondering where all the
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups went....lol.

The next day I went in her room and found this
in her drawer....mixed veggies....haha.

Hailey hunting for tomatoes.  I planted them WAY too close
together, so you literally have to dig through the
plants to look for them.

 Celebrating Sam's 14th birthday with coca-cola cake...Mmmmm.

While Jaren was at UFC on Saturday, the girls
did a little painting.  I'd like to say it was all fun times, but
I was tired, and paint was getting EVERYWHERE!  This
is one of the reasons I refuse to buy a nicer table...haha.

Hailey hard at work on her masterpiece.

Addy started with a brush and then ended up using
her fingers, hands and entire arms!

Last Day of Kindergarten

Oh my goodness, we have a first grader at our house!  Hailey wouldn't officially let us call her that until the day after the last day of school...haha.  She had a GREAT year, and loved loved loved her teacher, Mrs. Moya.  After school Hailey even told me she was going to cry herself to sleep that night because she missed Mrs. Moya.....awwwww.  I can't believe how fast the school year flew by.  If every year feels like this, I'm going to be fifty in the blink of an eye!  Or at least that's how it feels.   Hailey did EXCELLENT the entire school year.  She was so good about doing her homework right when she got home from school, and sometimes she even finished it in the car before we even pulled up to the house.  She averaged A's, mastered all of her phonograms, started reading and has become a great little reader.  She did awesome in math, and even had her teacher's aide bragging about how fast she finished the first timed test, and even got 100 percent....GO HAILEY!  She has learned so much this year, and we couldn't be more proud of her!

First & last days of kindergarten.  She definitely grew quite a bit
during this school year.  Some skirts that were below her knees
are now above them.  Wish I could slow down time, she's growing too fast.

It seems like we just took this picture yesterday!  She was so
excited for the school year.  Hopefully I will remember to do
this for first grade when the time comes.

 Her diploma....so cute!

Her award for "amazing story writing".  She definitely
has a very BIG imagination.

She averaged A's, we are so proud of her.

Toward the end of the year they came home with
a reading log.  Hailey had so much fun trying to
fill the logs up as fast as she could.  I lost track
of how many she read during this period because
she kept forgetting to bring the log home.....but it was A LOT!

She was so proud of her awards she taped them to her wall.

Week of May 13th

This was a tough week.  We had a private family viewing for Grandpa on Wednesday.  It was very hard to see Jaren and his siblings and mom grieving, but nice to be able to come together and see Cleiburn again.  The funeral was on Thursday, and it was a very nice funeral.  There were so many beautiful memories people shared about him.  There was a luncheon afterward, and we were able to see so many cousins and nieces and nephews, some that Jaren hadn't seen in ten years or more.  Time sure does fly by, and it makes you sad that it takes a funeral for everyone to come together.  After the luncheon we headed up North to Pinedale.  Gwen has an Aunt who let us all stay in her cabin.  The cabin was HUGE, and the kids had a blast running around and getting to play until late.  There was a dress up room, which the kids LOVED.  There must've been a hundred pieces of dress up clothes in there.  Reagan & Hailey put on a fashion show, which was pretty entertaining.  The burial was the next day, and it turned out very nice.  The Pinedale cemetery is a very peaceful cemetery.   I had been to the cemetery a few times in the past, to see where some of the Petersens would be buried one day.  It didn't seem real that it was really happening.  Grandpa had been in the Navy, and so the Honor Gaurd had driven up from the valley to do the service, which we thought was pretty cool.  It was a very nice funeral, but sad.  Sad to see Lois say her final goodbyes to her husband, sad for Jaren and his brothers and sister to say goodbye to their dad.  We went back to the cabin afterwards for a luncheon, and the kids got to run around and play with lots of cousins.  Hailey met quite a few cousins she hadn't met before.  I think it's so funny how kids can look at each other and say "Hi, what's your name?" and be best friends after that.  So cute!  After the luncheon Gwen and the kids and I drove home, while Jim and Jaren stayed to clean up the Pinedale place and meet a realtor to try to list it.  The trip home wasn't bad, and the kids were pretty good travelers.  I couldn't sleep that night, because I kept hearing noises.  I told Jaren he is NEVER allowed to be out of town again!  I seriously had a steak knife next to my bed.  After I finally got to sleep, my mom called saying my dad had a seizure!  It was a very tough night, with all that was going on, and now my dad was in the hospital.  In my mind, I was thinking "Jaren and I are both going to lose our dads a week apart, and this will be Hailey's and Addy's third grandparent to pass away in a matter of three months".  Luckily he was okay, and they took him to the hospital.  They are not sure why he had a seizure, but say it might be related to the stroke he had about a year ago.  We are hoping he doesn't have another one, and they can figure out the cause of it.  All I can say is it is scary getting older and seeing your parents get older and have their health start failing.  Makes me realize how important our time here is!

Getting ready to go to the funeral.  Hailey made
a note to give to Grandpa....so sweet ♥♥  And
might I add, Jaren looks so handsome (he
would be embarrassed if he knew I wrote that
on here....haha)

Lady Gaga...or, I mean Reagan!  This was one
of the outfits from the dress up clothes, she
had so much fun, and loved the funky shoes!

 Addy liked the porch swing.

 Aunt Stephanie posing with Reagan...haha.

Hailey fell in love with this cute little dress. John
and her had fun exploring outside.

Climbing up to the tree house.  Jim had told me a story of a time when
some kids were playing up there, and a bear was down below.  Me being
me, of course I worried the entire time that it was going to happen again!

 Cute cousins!

Addy & Elsie playing on the stairs.  Addy had me really nervous
because of her eye surgery.  Her doctor told us she might see double
for awhile, so I kept picturing her falling down the stairs...ahhhh.

 Grandpa's kids.

Jaren and his mom, brothers & sister.

Grandpa's kids and their spouses.
