Garden Update

Just a little garden update.  I guess the heat got to be too much for our tomato plants.  They were still alive, but producing only a few here and there, and the plants were starting to turn brown, so the girls and I pulled them all out.  The backyard looks so much cleaner without our "tomato jungle"...haha.  I planted them WAY too close together.  They ended up giving us loads of tomatoes, and I can't wait to plant again next year.

These are the watermelon plants.  I had no idea if it was even the
time to plant them, but I did it anyway.  Last time I took a
picture, the plant was just sprouting, now....
it's taking over the entire planter box.

Another picture of the watermelon plants.
I didn't check them for a few days, and
when I finally looked at them, the vines
had grown up the trellis next to the
planter box they were in.  Not sure if
the watermelons will actually stay on
the vine this way, but we well see.
These plants grow CRAZY fast!

Tiny little watermelon.  We have quite
a few of these growing.  I hadn't checked
them in a few days and was
surprised to find this.....

So cute!  It's about the size of a large egg.
Man, these things grow fast!

I think I am most excited about growing pumpkins.  I
really hope we get some, the girls would be so happy.

I have a feeling the pumpkin is going to take
over our yard....haha.  I was hoping it would
grow along the side yard, in the rocks, but
it does not want to!

I love going out in the morning and seeing
the blossoms on the pumpkin plants opened up, so pretty!

We have TONS of little baby pumpkins, I love it!
Some of the leaves have powdery mildew, which
is pretty tough to get rid of.  I hope some of
the pumpkins actually make it, and we can
have our own little pumpkin patch!
