Phew....this was a tough week! I don't really remember potty training Hailey all that much, but I definitely do not remember it being as difficult as it was to toilet train Addy! It was funny, frustrating and sad all at the same time. Quite a few tears from her one of the days, and maybe a few from me...yikes! The first three days were no too bad. I would have her sit on the toilet a bazillion times a day. I would sit there and read to her, or she would watch her favorite cartoons, Handy Manny and Special Agent Oso. The only bad part about the first three days was the boredom. Not leaving the house and thinking about potty issues for three straight days is enough to drive a mom crazy. And probably both girls too! Addy was starting to get the hang of it, and only had a handful of accidents. She was so proud of herself when she went potty. By day four she definitely did not want anything to do with diapers or pullups....GO ADDY!! She was doing SO SO good, but was terrified, and I mean TERRIFIED, to go number two. She kept saying "I cared to go poop"...with big tears running down her face. It was so sad and funny all at the same time. By day six, I was ready to commit myself into a looney bin over the whole poo issue! We had Grandma Petersen over, and literally for FOUR stinking hours, Addy went back and forth saying she had to poo, to screaming that she was scared. The whole house was at a standstill at this point, waiting for poo...haha. I started to doubt myself that she was even ready to be toilet trained, even though she was doing so good with going potty. Grandma, Jaren and I had no clue what to do. We literally tried everything to get her to go. We finally had Hailey sit by her on her little toilet, and she read her a book on potty training that she had made for Addy. And what do you know? She finally went! I wanted to do a happy poopy dance...haha. After that first time, she became an old pro! She turned a corner with potty training and never looked back. She even wears her undies to bed with no accidents. GO ADDY GIRL! So glad that is over with!! No more diapers or pullups for her!! So proud of her!!
Day one, not too interested yet.
But she LOVED her reward, tic tacs, her all time
favorite. After we ran out of those she got
jelly beans & mini Twix bars. I will not be
surprised if she has ten cavities the
next time she goes to the dentist!
Mixing Kool-Aid to fill her up so she could get
lots of practice using the potty.
This was SO funny. She fell asleep
on her little toilet...haha.
She is so cute. She was SO excited to
get to wear big girl undies. Goes nice with high heels...haha.
This My Little Pony train was meant for her birthday next
month, but we got it for an incentive for her to go number
two instead. She stared at this thing for FOUR days!! I
couldn't believe it didn't help her go. Poor Hailey was
dying to get it out and play with it.
Stickers definitely worked for this girly. She was SO excited
to put them on after each successful potty! She LOVES Dora.
This was the worst day, when she cried for four hours!
Sweet little Hailey trying to comfort her. Addy had fallen
asleep again for a few minutes. I think all the crying
exhausted her, poor girl. A few minutes after this
picture, she finally went....YEAH!!
Playing with the train...FINALLY. Hailey ripped open the
package like a crazy girl...haha. She was so excited to play with it.
The train was a good purchase, they love it.
Potty training must be hard work!
Look at that little angel face. I don't think
she could get any cuter. Love this girl so much ♥♥
Yeah Addy! Look at all those stickers.
Yeah Addy!!! Such a big girl! And way to go mama! Whew! I believe mothers deserve medals of honor after successfully completing potty training....the Purple Heart even! :). Potty training can be brutal sometimes.
ReplyDeleteQUITE the week! Don't you feel like the parent should get some kind of reward at the end of potty training?!
ReplyDeleteYes! I think a vacation is well deserved after a mom potty trains!!! I am so proud of her :)
