Potty Training Addison

Phew....this was a tough week!  I don't really remember potty training Hailey all that much, but I definitely do not remember it being as difficult as it was to toilet train Addy!  It was funny, frustrating and sad all at the same time.  Quite a few tears from her one of the days, and maybe a few from me...yikes!  The first three days were no too bad.  I would have her sit on the toilet a bazillion times a day.  I would sit there and read to her, or she would watch her favorite cartoons, Handy Manny and Special Agent Oso.  The only bad part about the first three days was the boredom.  Not leaving the house and thinking about potty issues for three straight days is enough to drive a mom crazy.  And probably both girls too!  Addy was starting to get the hang of it, and only had a handful of accidents.  She was so proud of herself when she went potty.  By day four she definitely did not want anything to do with diapers or pullups....GO ADDY!!  She was doing SO SO good, but was terrified, and I mean TERRIFIED, to go number two.  She kept saying "I cared to go poop"...with big tears running down her face.  It was so sad and funny all at the same time.  By day six, I was ready to commit myself into a looney bin over the whole poo issue! We had Grandma Petersen over, and literally for FOUR stinking hours, Addy went back and forth saying she had to poo, to screaming that she was scared.  The whole house was at a standstill at this point, waiting for poo...haha.  I started to doubt myself that she was even ready to be toilet trained, even though she was doing so good with going potty.  Grandma, Jaren and I had no clue what to do.  We literally tried everything to get her to go.  We finally had Hailey sit by her on her little toilet, and she read her a book on potty training that she had made for Addy.  And what do you know?  She finally went!  I wanted to do a happy poopy dance...haha.  After that first time, she became an old pro!  She turned a corner with potty training and never looked back.  She even wears her undies to bed with no accidents.  GO ADDY GIRL!  So glad that is over with!!  No more diapers or pullups for her!!  So proud of her!!

Day one, not too interested yet.

But she LOVED her reward, tic tacs, her all time
favorite.  After we ran out of those she got
jelly beans & mini Twix bars.  I will not be
surprised if she has ten cavities the
next time she goes to the dentist!

Mixing Kool-Aid to fill her up so she could get
lots of practice using the potty.

This was SO funny.  She fell asleep
on her little toilet...haha.

She is so cute.  She was SO excited to
get to wear big girl undies.  Goes nice with high heels...haha.

This My Little Pony train was meant for her birthday next
month, but we got it for an incentive for her to go number
two instead.  She stared at this thing for FOUR days!!  I
couldn't believe it didn't help her go.  Poor Hailey was
dying to get it out and play with it.

Stickers definitely worked for this girly.  She was SO excited
to put them on after each successful potty!  She LOVES Dora.

This was the worst day, when she cried for four hours!

Sweet little Hailey trying to comfort her.  Addy had fallen
asleep again for a few minutes.  I think all the crying
exhausted her, poor girl.  A few minutes after this
picture, she finally went....YEAH!!

Playing with the train...FINALLY.  Hailey ripped open the
package like a crazy girl...haha.  She was so excited to play with it.

The train was a good purchase, they love it.

Potty training must be hard work!

Look at that little angel face.  I don't think
she could get any cuter.  Love this girl so much ♥♥
Yeah Addy!  Look at all those stickers.

Pictures from the past couple of weeks...

Not a lot going on, just enjoying summer, but getting excited for school to start.  The girls have been playing a lot with our neighbors, who sadly, just moved.  It's a total bummer, but....they only moved about ten minutes away, so we will still see them.  I can honestly say they were some of the best neighbors you could ask for!  A sweet, funny family!  We will definitely be keeping in touch with them!

Helping put the carrots and potatoes in
the crock pot for pot roast.  She loves to help, but
always wants to do things I don't think she is big enough
for, like cut the carrots.  I'm such a worry freak, I didn't even
want her to use a butter knife, but....she begged and I
let her.  I freaked over a butter knife?!  Yikes!  I need to
learn to relax and let this little girly grow up :)

We went to a local farmer's market and picked up six
packages of strawberries for two dollars total!  I normally
am not a huge fan of this store, since the fruit often seems
overripe, but they actually looked great!  I am trying my
hardest to stretch our dollars, so this was a smokin deal!

What did we do with all of those strawberries?
We made yummy freezer jam....Mmmmmm.

The girls enjoyed mashing them.

Eating homemade brownies outside.  They had them the day
before on my freshly mopped floor, and I was not
about to let that mess happen again...haha.

 Addy helping make homemade bread.

She LOVED kneading the dough.

The house smelled SO good with these baking in the oven!
This is my grandmas recipe that my mom makes.  I have
tried other bread recipes, but I always like this one the best.

Jaren is such a good dad!  He reads to the girls
just about every night.  To prepare Hailey for first
grade, we went to the library and checked out some
books.  This one is called First Grade Stinks, and
it's really cute.

Our cute little fairy!  Hailey picked out this little dress at
the dollar store, but it was WAY to short for her, think
hoochie mama...haha.  So, Addy gets to wear it now.

I remembered doing this when I was young.  You draw a face
on your chin, and hang your head down and talk or sing.
The girls and I laughed SO hard!  We recorded Hailey
and then watched the video a bazillion times.

While Hailey and I were busy drawing faces on our chins,
Addy was in my bathroom giving her self a makeover...haha.

Addy loves to play doctor.  I was SO exhausted this day, I was
just sitting on the floor.  Addy wanted me to play with her so
bad, but I was so tired.  She started checking me out, looking
in my ears saying "this one wooks fine, and this one
wooks fine".....haha.  So cute, I couldn't resist playing
with her after that, she's at the funnest age right now.

Hailey LOVES to craft.  She wants to do
crafts anyplace, anytime!  I feel bad that I
don't make the time to do them more often,
but these girls run me ragged!!  This day
we were making clay Christmas ornaments,
in July...haha.  But, it was fun, cheap
and easy, the perfect craft.

Painting them.  Too bad I forgot to poke a hole in the
ornament before it dried...oops, guess we will be
making these again before Christmas :)

Smiley girl.  Addy loves to paint.

This was so cute!  Hailey got dressed (in her
WAY to small dollar store dress) and put headphones
on and used a ladle as a microphone.  She was busting
out Carrie Underwood's song I Will See You Again.  I need
to get this girl in a little singing class, she would LOVE it!

This little squirt was SO tired, she fell asleep on a chair.  She
won't nap, but man, she gets SO tired since giving up her naps.

Boys Birthday Party

One of Hailey's kindergarten classmates invited her to his birthday party.  Hailey knew the invitation was coming in the mail, because his mom had called me asking for our address.  Hailey was SOOO excited for that invitation to arrive.  We checked the mail every day for three weeks.  When it finally came, she was so happy and giggly.  She thought it was so funny to be invited to a boy birthday party (the only boy party she had been to was her cousins).

The day the invitation finally came!!

All ready to go.  She had so much fun picking
out a boy gift.  She couldn't decide and it took
her FOREVER!!  I am not kidding, FOREVER!  Although,
I am not the most patient person...haha.  The fact that
I had an almost three year old running around
the toy department probably didn't help much!

This is after the party.  The theme was Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles.  She came home with some masks and
advised Jaren & I that they were now spies...haha.

 Silly sisters.

She was under the desk spying on
Jaren, taking notes.

Going over her notes from spying...haha.
She told me "you now have a girl
who likes to spy on your hands".

First grade here we come...

I cannot believe we have a first grader in our home!!  It really does seem like we were just loading her up in her infant carrier for the first time and driving home from the hospital.  I love this girl more than life itself.  She is ninety-nine percent attitude....my feisty, feisty girl!

We decided to change schools this year.  It's not that we disliked her old school, but her new school is a small school that her two cousins go to.  There are approximately one hundred students.  It's about as close to homeschooling as you can get, without doing it yourself.  It's an excelling school, and as a bonus, she only goes four days a week!  She has been a little nervous to start a new school, because she knows her last one so well.  But, she is getting more excited. She received a letter in the mail from her teacher yesterday, and that REALLY got her excited.  I went to the store and picked up her school supplies and surprised her in the morning.  She said to me "mom, how many more days of summer are there, because I sort of miss school"....awwww!  Only three more weeks!

Fun in the Rain

We finally got our first big monsoon storm here!  We have been waiting and waiting, and it almost seems like the weather has been teasing us.  We heard thunder, and went outside and there were very dark clouds over our house.  Within twenty minutes, it started pouring!  The girls LOVED it.  They played in the rain, and me being the worrier that I am, yelled at them to get back in, even though I did take some pictures because they were so cute!

Hailey got dressed for rain, a jacket, hat and mittens...haha.

Listening to the rain on the roof of their play house.

Addy had just finished a root beer
sucker and it was dripping down her stomach.
