The Petersen Family: Week of July 9, 2011

Monday Hailey had cousins John & Reagan over. Addy loves to play with them now too. I felt so bad because I put her down to nap while they were here, and she wanted nothing to do with it. She cried on and off for about a half hour, and I finally got her up. Poor girl, I guess that wasn't very nice of me to stop her right in the middle of playing and lay her down while everyone else got to keep playing. Tuesday we went over to Papa's house. Katie watched the girls while I ran to get groceries. I LOVE LOVE LOVE going without kids! It's crazy how a trip to the store by yourself can completely refresh you. Maddy, Meagan & Missy were there and they got to play. After that Hailey went over to play at John & Reagan's house, and Addy took a nap while I did some cleaning and dinner prepping. Later that day Hailey got to play with Makenzey too. She was SO tired that evening, she fell asleep on the couch before dinner. Wednesday was gymnastics and then we went to visit Nana & Papa because it was Papa's birthday. Thursday us girls ran some errands. We had to take the VHS tapes of our wedding to get converted into DVDs. I can't believe I waited this long to get it done. The girls played and then Addy napped while I started a project, organizing our GIGANTIC box of pictures. I can't believe how many pictures we have accumulated in the past ten years. I also made file boxes to organize Hailey's school work, which also piles up FAST! The project was more time consuming than I thought, and I was glad I had dinner already going in the crock pot, because I was not in the mood to cook that night. Jaren got home from work really late, so us girls went for ice cream, then it was off to bed. Friday we mostly hung around the house. Autumn came over that night and babysat the girls while Jaren and I went to dinner and shopped for a ......kayak! We had been looking on craigslist, but they sell really fast. We ended up buying a new one. The girls were REALLY excited when we came home. I took a picture of both of them in it with Jaren. So cute! We can't wait to find a used one so we can all four go out on them. Saturday Jaren & Eric went out to the river and Saguaro Lake to try out their kayaks (Eric bought one too). They were gone until late afternoon. I took the girls to the park to feed the ducks and play, then we hung out at home. That afternoon we got a really good storm, which was nice. Sunday the girls were up early. We played outside a bit while Jaren slept in, he really needed it after the long kayaking day. Later we went to Bass Pro to walk around. The girls had lots of fun sitting on all of the ATV's and other ride on toys. When we got home we went swimming. Jaren said he was going to surprise Hailey and put the kayak in the pool. She was outback swinging and didn't even see him putting it in. But as soon as she did, she bailed off that swing and ran to the pool, screaming with excitement. Surprisingly she could row it pretty well and we are thinking of getting her a kids sized kayak for her birthday. We ended the night with homemade spaghetti and watched the movie Brother Bear II.
