Egg Experiment and Giant Bubbles

I have really been trying to keep the girls busy with fun activities this summer.  We did the egg experiment, which wasn't super hands on, but still fun.  You just add an egg to a mason jar filled with vinegar, and it eats the shell away.  I think it's super disgusting, and it makes me never want to eat eggs again haha.  But, the girls loved their squishy egg at the end.  Being the germaphobe that I am, I let them touch it and squish it over the sink, then down the disposal it went!

The other activity we did was making giant bubbles.  Or should I say "trying" to make giant bubbles?  We bought a wand off of Amazon, but it didn't work too well.  We ended up going to Lowes and made our own wands, which work better, but still not great.  I think it's our solution.  We've tried three different recipes floating around on the web.  They do make bubbles, they just don't close off and float away.  But, we are not giving up.  Plus, the girls have still been having fun, usually with the neighbor boys, trying to do bubbles in the evenings.

 Hailey loved squishing it!

She's like "my precious egg" haha.

Random May pictures

Just some random pictures....

Love this girl!  She is developing the
funniest personality lately.  Always trying
to make us laugh, usually talking about
poop or toots or some other potty talk haha.
I legit cannot get her to stop.  At this point, all
I can do is use it to embarrass her in front of
a future boyfriend when she's older lol.

Addy received this kite at her last birthday,
almost a year ago!  Being the horrible parent
that I am, we just barley opened it up haha.  Turns out, it
doesn't fly too well, so we weren't missing anything lol.

Then we brought out our old Barbie kite,
and it kept dive bombing the kids.  We
laughed so hard!!

Addy wanted her hair in a "bumpy"
pony tail just like her little friend Sophie at school.

Church with these two cute chicks!

New pool toy that last only a week
before popping, as usual lol.

This little six year old is
reading huge chapter books!
So proud of her!

This girl LOVES games.  I'm a bad mom
and don't play them with her very often.
She practically begs lol.  Especially Spot It.
At least it's a quick game.

 Watching Addy swim.
 Too cute!

Eating at Texas Roadhouse with the girls.

 Giddy Up!

 Cute little cowgirl.

 Haha...looking a little fancy!

Swimming with cousins John, Hannah and Elsie.

Blurry picture, but this is the girls doing "mom school".  Every
summer I say I'm making them do school work, and I don't.  This
year I got my booty organized, and they do it every morning, with
almost no complaints!!  I just don't want them to lose what they learned
over the year, especially Hailey, who is doing long division and getting
into more difficult fractions.  And Addy mainly needs to continue doing
awesome with her math, and learn time and money better.

Waiting in the car for Nana and Papa
to come out of their doctor appoint.
One of them was not being very
patient (ahem....Addy haha).

 Girls been working on her
squats haha!

Hailey went to a church swim party, and
Addy talked me into the mall.  I am NOT a mall
person at all.  I am terrified that there will be a
mall shooting.  I know my thoughts are completely
irrational, but I can't help it.  My mind always
thinks the absolute worst.  It sucks!

Mall play area, or what my neighbor
calls a petri dish haha.  So true.

Last Day of School!!

Wow, this school year flew right by.  I cannot believe we will actually have a second grader and a fifth grader next year.  Even though the days seem long, the years really do fly by in the blink of an eye, it scares me.

Both girls had an excellent year.  All through preschool and kindergarten, Addy had really bad anxiety about being separated from me.  This year, she did amazing!  Go Addy.  The first few weeks were rough, even though I was the aide in her class for the first few hours, and stayed at school all day!  It was almost to the point of me having to be taken out of her class, but she turned it around, and I got to stay all year.  She had a couple of little crying incidents, poor girl, but did fantastic.  She got straight A's all year!  Like really high straight A's.  We had always planned on having her wait another year to start kindergarten, and I still wished we did.  She wasn't ready emotionally, but academically she is rocking it.  She reads like a pro, and is coming along with her math perfectly.

Hailey also had an amazing year.  Her teacher told me at the beginning of the year that they go through a lot of changes and grow so much in fourth grade, and boy was she right.  Hailey and I but heads constantly, but she has matured quite a bit this year.  She is an amazing friend and student.  She has gotten all A's except for a C at the beginning, which her teacher says is because she was rushing and not taking her time to read directions.  Luckily she slowed down, because her grade shot right up.  She definitely has Jaren's math sense, not mine haha!  And boy can she spell!  I almost wish our charter school had a spelling Bee, because she would love it!  One thing that made me super proud was that she was always willing to help at school.  They got out of school fifteen minutes before I could leave, and she was always helping her teacher or Addy's teacher.  Sweet girl!

Anyhow, the day of school was on a Wednesday, where they all had their school parties.  They both had so much fun.  Thursday was supposed to be a fun day at a trampoline park, and then I technically had to work Friday. However, poor Hailey got a terrible stomach bug, and we missed going in Friday.  I wasn't planning on them going to the trampoline park anyway, because it was going to be way too crowded.  We are SO happy that it is summer vacation, and that we are not on a schedule anymore.

This was a week before school got out, on
Teacher Appreciation Week.  Addy got her
teacher some chocolate candies and a
Target gift card.  She was so excited to give it to her.

Hailey got her teacher a personalized
cup and filled it with her favorite candies.
She had been waiting months to give this to her!

 Last day of school!!!

 Addy's class party!

This is her little desk partner, Ellie.  Addy just loved her!

She got to make paper air planes.

Her teacher did a bunch of fun little
experiments with the kids, they loved it!

Addy's sweet teacher gave me a new
cup filled with candy and a gift
card to Texas Roadhouse.  She is so sweet!

Hailey's class party.  Sadly, I only took this one picture, sorry Hailey Bug.

Addy missed doing a project one day when
we had to leave school early, so she made it
at home.  A HUGE flower.  It turned out so cute.

Poor Hailey and her stomach bug.  She couldn't keep anything
down for about 24 hours.  I haven't seen her that sick in a long time.

Finally feeling better and eating
chicken noodle soup.
