Fourth of July

Our ward had their third annual Fourth of July bike parade.  We start out the school by our house, ride bikes around the parking lot for a bit, then ride to this families house for a bike car wash and donuts.  The kids love it.  I was a mean mom this year and didn't buy stuff to decorate their bikes.  Addy didn't even ask, but Hailey asked about a bazillion times and was mad at me.  I figured why spend money on streamers and whatnot when it was going to get wet in the bike car wash anyhow.  Maybe next year!  After the bike parade, a family in the ward invited everyone back to their house for swimming.  I wasn't going to go, but Hailey begged, so we went for about thirty minutes.

Later that night we had our usual Petersen get together of dinner and fireworks.  We almost left before fireworks, but ended up staying.  Every year someone gets hurt, and it makes me nervous.  I would much rather watch fireworks from a distance!  The men got a little crazy with them, so Addy and I stayed in the house and talked with grandma the whole time.  We stayed until about nine, then it was home for bedtime.

Ready for their bike parade, in their cute patriotic outfits!

Swimming at the neighbors pool.  Didn't get
any other pictures.  That's Addy in the water.

Making the carrot cakes for the Petersen get together.

Addy thought it was silly that baby
carrot food went into the recipe!

Helping with the frosting, and of course,
licking the beaters when we were done!

Swimming with cousins at Jim and Gwens.
