Fall Garden

Finally got the garden going again!  I had all these plans for Hailey's Fall break, thinking we'd be out of the house on some fun adventure every day, but we never left, other than go to Lowe's and Home Depot for garden things.  I was starting to feel bad about it, but I'm not going to at all.  Think of all the money we saved, and the girls spent almost the entire time outside.  Hailey had fun helping, she made ten bucks!!  She also found a ton of worms!  Addy had fun playing and watching us work!  And work it was.  Almost two years of grass and weeds had grown through the weed barrier of our raised beds.  It was so much work trying to get the roots out.  I finally just decided to take out all the soil, rip out the weed barrier fabric, and start all over with new.  Tons of work and sweat, but it's all prepped and ready for seeds and plants!  Our only issue might be the bunny!  I added chicken wire to a picket fence, and I'm hoping she won't be partying in the garden while we're sleeping every night!  She's so cute, it would be hard to find her a new home!  We'll see how she does.  Otherwise, I'm so excited to start planting again.  I joined a gardening forum online, and checked out some books from the library.  Hoping in a month or so we'll have some nice plants growing! 

 This is the two raised beds, and the picture doesn't do it justice!

I SOAKED both of them with the hose, multiple times, and it

was still torture trying to get to the roots!  I would've used

grass killer, but we are going to be eating what we grow,

so that was a no go.

Here are the two beds after!  No more grass & weeds!

Hopefully Buttercup will STAY OUT!!!

 

 Our other two raised beds.  These ones just needed a

little work, since they are not sitting over grass.  Our lemon

tree has a huge snapped branch and fell on the left side bed.

Hopefully once Jaren's back is better he can trim it a bit.

 This was so cute!  It almost makes me want to go buy

another roll of fencing just so the girls can have a "yard"

for their play house!  Hailey even put some potted

plants around their yard...so cute!

 

She's thinking "nice try with the fence!"  Haha...I know

she can hop pretty high, so we'll see how long it takes

until she's in there chowing on our plants!!
