Little Reader
I was outback, and Hailey ran into the house. I'd say 95% of the time, she is trying to sneak something she shouldn't have, like candy. I went in to check on her, certain she was getting into trouble, and found her reading a book in her bedroom. It was soooo cute, and I felt bad for assuming she was doing something she shouldn't.
Easter
We had a great Easter. Saturday morning we boiled three dozen eggs to color. I'm not gonna lie, the egg coloring experiment was not the fun, family activity I was expecting. Addy had went to bed WAY too late and woke up before six, and was in desperate need for a nap. She was very emotional when anything did not go her way. And then there is Hailey Bug , who tries to help Addy a little too much, which frustrates Addy. Then there was lots of colored water spilling on my freshly mopped floor. So between the mess, the bossiness, and the emotional two year old, I am glad we will not be coloring eggs for another year! Hailey woke up early and came in our room whispering "I saw two Easter baskets". I told her she had to wait, but then felt bad about two seconds later, because I knew how excited she was to check out her basket. She was SO happy checking out her basket and seeing what the Easter Bunny brought her. Addy woke up about thirty minutes later, and was SUPER excited too. This was Addy's first Easter where she actually understood what was going on. The girls ate a small breakfast, and then we let them dig into some candy. Later, Hailey crashed, I think from a sugar high, she was exhausted. After a relaxing morning, we went to church to hear cousin Reagan sing in the choir, it was very pretty! Later that afternoon we had a Petersen get together for Grandma Lois' birthday & Easter. We grilled burgers and hot dogs, not very Easter dinner "ish" but easy! The kids had an Easter egg hunt and played, and Grandpa even got to come! All in all it was a great Easter!
Our three dozen eggs, ready to go!
Such a simple thing of coloring eggs makes Hailey SO happy!!

Week of March 25th, 2013
This week started off pretty normal, with work for Jaren, school for Hailey and playing and running errands for me and Addy. I'm so lucky that I get to be home with that cute girl!! Jaren had a pretty busy week a work, and had to stay late quite a few times. Hailey did AWESOME in school this week, as usual! She is just loving kindergarten, and we are so proud of her. She is doing so well with her sight words, and is reading like crazy! She has read 35 books in the past couple of weeks. The other day when I went to pick he up, the teacher's aide, Mrs. Cheryl, came out to tell me how proud she was of Hailey. She said they had a math timed test, and Hailey ROCKED it!! The kids had five minutes to finish it, and she finished first, in only three and a half minutes. She only missed one out of sixty math problems, because she wrote her nine down like a letter p....oops! Go Hailey!!! Friday was pretty much one of the worst days I have had in a long time. My good friend Rosa had been sick for a few days, and I stopped hearing from her on Tuesday. I was pretty worried, because I called and texted with no response. Her husband eventually got in touch with me on Thursday to tell me she was very sick and in the hospital. I thought she would most likely be ok, but Friday he called me to say that she had passed away. I worked with Rosa at the police department for almost fourteen years. I quit two years ago, but I don't think there was more than five days total where we did not talk. We talked about everything....just simple things. She would text and say "whatcha doing, what's for dinner...etc." Jaren would laugh at how often we texted each other, but we had lots of fun. It's so strange that my phone is so quiet now. When I do get a text, I think it's going to be her, then I remember. Next week will be her funeral, which will be tough. She was so young, and had so much life left to live. Miss you Rosa!
Addy and I made play dough. It ended up dried out and crunchy
all over the kitchen floor, but it kept her busy for two hours!
Sneaky Sneaky......
We were letting this radish continue to grow, so we
could get seeds off of the flowers. It took WAY
too long, and we got sick of looking at it, so
we pulled it out. It was literally the size of Hailey's head!
I cannot believe how HUGE this radish was! Look at the
green on it, it looks like a bush, not a radish...haha.
Cute little Hailey!!
Love this girl ♥♥

Week of March 18th, 2013
Other than the funeral for Grandpa Brooks, not a whole lot went on this week. Grandpa Petersen was in the hospital for an infection. The infection went away, but being very weak, the doctors wanted him to go to a rehab/care facility until he becomes stronger. We have been visiting him and he seems to be doing a little better. In the meantime, Grandma has been staying with us, which the girls LOVE! She has been sharing a room with Hailey, which Hailey thinks is really neat. Other then that, it was just a regular week. Hailey enjoyed school and had lots of fun at their track and field day, where she came home with a ribbon, so cute!
The girls in their dresses, right before
going to Grandpa Brooks' funeral.
Our peas were pretty much done growing. I told the girls
we were going to pick every one, which of course excited them.
We ended up with a HUGE mixing bowl full of peas. It took us
girls a good two hours to get the peas out.
Three bags of peas ready to freeze. Probably much cheaper to just go
buy three bags of peas, when you add up the time and water spent
taking care of them. But....the experience for the girls is really fun!
Hailey likes to pick lemons from the tree, and found two
HUGE ones. You can't tell by the picture, but the one
Hailey is holding was literally the size of Addy's head,
they thought it was pretty funny!
Addy has been helping in the kitchen a lot lately, and that
makes her one HAPPY girl!! This day we were making
sweet & sour meatballs. I love the picture on the
bottom right, she is so happy with her work....haha.
What a cutie!!!
We bought a Bunny House to decorate, the girls LOVED it.
I think they had more fun eating it then decorating it...haha.
